Count your Blessings

This past weekend, was Taylors mom birthday.  We celebrated her life by having Taylors siblings over for dinner on Sunday.  She passed away of Colon Cancer in August 2006 and there is not a day that goes by when I wish she was still alive.  When I think about Julie during her struggle to fight her stage 4 Colon Cancer, all I can think of was how positive she was.  She was a huge example to me on how to fight trials with a positive attitude.  I can't wait to tell my future kids about their amazing grandma who is watching them from Heaven.
Then today, mom called me with some very sad news that Kevin Hegewald, a very close family friend passed away of cancer.  He fought a good fight and was always SO positive about his situation.  He was always joking around and making light of his terrible situation.  My heart aches for his wife and four children.  Kevin was as good as GOLD, and changed many lives, mine included.
So, as I reflect on Julies and Kevins life, I am counting my blessings.  Go tell your loved ones that you love them.  Go hug a family member and tell them how much they mean to you.  Go kiss your husband or wife.  Go apologize to someone that you might have offended.
I am beyond grateful for my incredible husband.  I don't talk about him much on this blog, but he really is the best husband for me.  Just today I walk in the door, and there was a note telling me how much he loves me.  I'm so grateful that he is mine for eternity, and I am SO grateful for The Plan of Salvation.

2 Sweet Thoughts:

  1. Heather, this was so sweet. I am positive that Taylor's mother was a stellar woman. You are a lucky lady to have a part of her in your (future) children. Also, I feel for the Hegewald family, because when I came to your ward in July his wife gave her testimony (right?). I feel like I know him a little and my heart breaks for his family. Stay strong! Miss you loads.

  2. I'm not just now seeing this post okay. But I failed to say prior how amazing this pic is. Love the outfits. No need for the professional pic anyways. This is better.
