Today my whole family was texting each other back and forth. It was a party to say the least. Mama came into the conversation a little late because she was dealing with something. Twas the Week Before Christmas

The week prior to Christmas was a rough week. It was just one of those weeks when nothing was working out for me. Taylor was busy with finals week and I just needed a good pick me up. He came up with the most clever idea to change my frown around.

I'll let the poem explain... enjoy!

Twas the week before Christmas, when all throughout Provo

Not a person was stirring, not even a sweet-bro

The students were all driving, homeward with care

In hopes that without speeding soon they’d be there

Yet two married kids stayed nestled, please don’t shed a tear

For this year they’d spend Christmas, without Sano near

And mamma in her ‘kerchief, blew her nose well

Don’t worry about Dad he was out catching the swell

My sugar was sad, I could tell from her chatter

So I thoughtfully listened to know what was the matter

“I can’t do Christmas in Utah,” she said with a flash

“More willing I’d be to come down with a rash”

I assured her we’d be fine, for there wasn’t much snow

But that didn’t do much in bringing back her usual glow

When, what to my wondering mind should appear,

An idea to save Christmas, but hidden I kept it from her tinny ear

I tried to be clever; I guess you could say “lively” and “quick”

I knew in a moment she might get more homesick

More rapid than eagles my plan started to form

And I whistled, and shouted, and hope my plan would perform!

On Nordstroms! Now, Jcrew! Now, Costco and Macy’s!

On, Amazon! On, Soel Boutique! On, Anthro and Target!

To each store I flew! To one or two I made a call!

Now wrap away! Wrap away! Wrap away all!

As dry leaves that before the wild Santa Ana fly

I met every obstacle, and kept it all sly

So up to the Florence’s for Christmas we’ll go

But not first without a week of a little planned sideshow

By sideshow I mean a plan for each day

Whether a gift or a date I’m not liable to say

But it’s all in good fun, because homeward you’re not bound

My dad let me know it's been a good 30 days since I have blogged. Whoops....

So, here is the latest updated:

-Taylor finished his last Fall Semester EVER at BYU.

- We went to Savior of the World up at the Conference Center and it was a great production.

- I am completely done with my Christmas shopping! Hallelujah! Now, I just need to wrap.

- I made caramels for the first time ever! It was a lot of stirring.

- I am loving the 20 days giveaway on Anthro.

- Taylor and I can't get enough of Christmas movies. Our current obsession is Miracle of 34th Street.

- Obsessed with my peppermint candle from Bath & Body Works.

- Loving all the Christmas cards.

- Can't believe Christmas is less than a week away! Wasn't it just Halloween?!

- We are going home for New Years and I can hardly stand it!

Momma Came in Town

Every year my dad and brothers go on a fishing trip. So, while they were catching fish, mom decided to fly up for the weekend to hang out with us. Eating out, stocking up at Costco, enjoying the amenities at Sundance, shopping, and just talking= the perfect weekend. It went by way too fast, but thank goodness Thanksgiving is only 3 weeks away. Thanks for coming momma. We love you!

St. George Marathon 2011

WOW...I don't even know where to begin with this post. One year ago, my dad ran the St. George marathon for the 25th time. He came by in tears saying that, "This is it, I'm not running anymore marathons." So, Taylor jokingly mentioned that he will run it, if dad doesn't. Fast forward 4 months.. and Taylor officially signed up for the marathon. Now, being the horrible wife I was, I had VERY little faith in my husband. He's athletic..but heaven forbid.. 26.2 miles... I never thought he was going to follow through. Well, he TOTALLY proved me wrong and rocked the marathon.

I'm not kidding I have never been so proud in MY LIFE. Like getting an A on a hard test doesn't even compare to how proud and happy I was when I saw him. I'm not going to lie...I got a little teary eyed watching my lover coming running towards me with his thumbs up. I honestly could not believe that he did it! Yes, he trained but he will be the first one to admit he could have been better prepared... so we were both a little nervous the night before.

After he crossed the finish line and we met up, he was so exhausted that he mentally was not there. I mean he was seriously OUT OF IT. He went and laid under a tree for about a good 30 minutes and he kept saying, "I love you," over and over again. I just kept telling him how proud I was and hoping that my lover would come back to life.

That night we celebrated dad's 50th and Tays 24th birthday.

In the end it was an unforgettable experience. I keep telling myself that if Tay can do 26.2 maybe I can do 13.1. Here's to the SLC Half in April. Anybody wanna join Taylor and I?!

Girls Night- Taylor Swift

So, about three weeks ago we were in the car with the Penas and a Taylor Swift song came on. Courtney asked if I liked T-Swift, said I love her and that my brother went to her concert back in California, who said it was incredible. Courtney gets on her phone, sees if she is coming to SLC, finds out her concert is two weeks away, and that we NEED to get tickets. Well.... Courtney worked her magic, and we had tickets the next day! Within the two weeks I memorized all her songs, and was counting down the days until her concert.

Went to dinner at Sea Salt in Salt Lake. It was amazing.. I am definitely going back.

Okay so I am now beyond obsessed with Taylor. She is an AMAZING performer. She sang for over 2 hours and each song was like a new musical broadway production. People had told me that she doesn't sound good live... and umm they are CRAZY! She sounded amazing!!!!

Her final song was Love Story, and I'm no kidding I was almost tearing up. It was seriously such a magical experience. I didn't want the concert to end...it was that good.

She would often just stand and smile; like she was just taking it all in. OBSESSED.

If you ever have the chance to see her in concert, I highly recommend it. It will be a night you will always remember. Thanks girls for an incredible girls night!!

Count your Blessings

This past weekend, was Taylors mom birthday. We celebrated her life by having Taylors siblings over for dinner on Sunday. She passed away of Colon Cancer in August 2006 and there is not a day that goes by when I wish she was still alive. When I think about Julie during her struggle to fight her stage 4 Colon Cancer, all I can think of was how positive she was. She was a huge example to me on how to fight trials with a positive attitude. I can't wait to tell my future kids about their amazing grandma who is watching them from Heaven.

Then today, mom called me with some very sad news that Kevin Hegewald, a very close family friend passed away of cancer. He fought a good fight and was always SO positive about his situation. He was always joking around and making light of his terrible situation. My heart aches for his wife and four children. Kevin was as good as GOLD, and changed many lives, mine included.

So, as I reflect on Julies and Kevins life, I am counting my blessings. Go tell your loved ones that you love them. Go hug a family member and tell them how much they mean to you. Go kiss your husband or wife. Go apologize to someone that you might have offended.

I am beyond grateful for my incredible husband. I don't talk about him much on this blog, but he really is the best husband for me. Just today I walk in the door, and there was a note telling me how much he loves me. I'm so grateful that he is mine for eternity, and I am SO grateful for The Plan of Salvation.

Home Sweet Home

Yesterday, in good old San Clemente there was a bomb threat towards the high school. MY high school! It was crazy. I could not believe that such a thing was occurring. Everyone was evacuated to the football field, then directed towards the gymnasium. My little brother was texting me all day giving me the updates. Some crazy Navy Medic went missing and the police found notes in his room about leaving to go bomb the high school. Later in the day, he surrendered himself and nothing happened! Thank goodness. Great way to start the school year...

Now, San Diego/ South Orange County is out of power until tomorrow. Everything is cancelled, and everything is closed. Crazy things are happening in Southern California.

I LOVE this saying! It's crazy to think that one week ago we were packing up to move back to Provo. We miss home like crazy. Taylor and I talk about our summer everyday. We miss our nursery kids; especially rocking out in singing time with them, I haven't missed grocery shopping and Tay hasn't missed the cost of grocery shopping, I miss Board and Brew and Tay misses Baja Fish Tacos, we miss late night chats with mom and dad, I miss moms washer and dryer, Tay misses his morning bike rides with dad, we miss the beach, I miss my kids, we miss the ward, and I could go on and on about the different things we miss. Although we miss a TON of things about our summer at home, life moves forward and we are fired up to be back in Provo! So friends, "Don't Put off Your Happy Life!"

Disneyland Extravaganza

Right before we left for Utah we went to Disneyland with the family. To say the least we dominated the two parks. It was an amazing day filled with many laughs. I'll let the pictures explain.

All good things must come to an end

Well, we are here in Provo. We got in last night around 11pm, unloaded the car, and fell asleep by 12:30am. The apartment is a complete mess and I don't have much excitement to put everything away. The last 4 months have been perfect. Living in Southern California with my family, nannying everyday, and going to the beach daily was the dream set up. Saying goodbye was really hard. Not only was it hard to say bye to my incredible family, but it was hard to say bye to my kids. One of the kids we nannied came and sat with us during church yesterday. I guess she was begging her mom all throughout sacrament meeting if she could come sit with us, and her mom finally gave in. To say the least, it melted my heart. Then after sacrament meeting a few of our nursery kids wouldn't go to nursery because we weren't there. Over the past few months I became very attached and comfortable. When it was time to drive away cried/balled my eyes out. I just couldn't believe it was over. As we drove down Provo Main Street, we just couldn't believe that we were back. We keep saying, "Is this a dream?! Are we really back in Provo?!" It went fast, actually way too fast. But, we are looking forward, trying to stay positive, and counting our many blessings. So, heres to our last year in Provo!

Berry French Toast

1 loaf French bread, cut in small cubes

1/2 block of 8-ounce cream cheese

3/4 cups of fresh berries

8 eggs

1/2 cup maple syrup

1 cup milk

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9x13 pan with Pam and line bottom with /12 of cubed bread. Cut pieces of cream cheese and place on top of bread. Sprinkle with berries and top with remaining bread crumbs. Beat eggs with maple syrup and milk. Pour over bread.

Cover tightly with tin foil, sprayed with Pam, and refrigerate overnight.

Bake for 30 minutes covered with foil, then uncover and cook for another 30 minutes. Cut in square and serve with berry sauce.

Berry Sauce:

1 cup sugar

1 cup water

2 Tbl. cornstarch

1 cup berries

Mix sugar and cornstarch well, add water. Bring to boil while stirring constantly. Add berries and stir until berries pop, not ver long. Pour hot over French toast, and serve more sauce at the table.

Mom and I just made this recipe today. It was so good, I just had to share! Enjoy.

Angels Game

Last night was Mormon Angels Night. I love this night and look forward to it every summer. Trevor was honored for graduating high school and for his accomplishments. We danced, cheered, and ate way too much junk food. Overall it was a fabulous night!

This summer has been incredible!!! I have seriously learned such valuable lessons about being a mom, I can't wait until I become a real mom one day. I keep telling Tay I am going to ball my eyes out when I have to say bye to my kiddos. I'm seriously so obsessed with them. I love my kids so much, it's hard to describe. I can't even imagine what kind of love I will have for my own kids. Anywho..I have been so busy lately nannying, I snap random pictures throughout the different weeks with my phone.

The Checketts came to visit us this past weekend and it was a party and a half. We have only been friends for about a year, but it feels like a lifetime. We get along so well, it's almost hard to describe our type of friendship. Going back to Provo in the Fall will definitely be different without them walking in our door on a daily basis. To be honest, I get a little emotional thinking about it..but I have to count my blessings that we have so many wonderful memories together. Thanks for taking time to come visit us and we will see you in New York! xo

Tomorrow marks two weeks of running EVERY day. I'm pretty fired up about it.

I think I have caught, "The Runners High." Believe me, I thought the saying was a joke, until a few days ago.

I have learned that running shoes make a HUGE difference.

This past weekend we went up to Utah for a family reunion.

It was Taylor's second campout.

Taylors favorite hobby lately has been road biking with dad after they get off work.

Almost done with the book Water for Elephants. What book should I read next?

I think I have been to the park 6+ times in the past week. I could get used to this.

I have forgotten how great DVR is. Wow is all I have to say.

I am loving all the wedding receptions lately. They have been so creative.

I think I might be a little emotional watching Oprah's last show.

I wish my hair would grow faster.

Getting excited for some visitors in June.

Tay and I rode horses for the first time. It will be an experience to remember forever. Being out in the middle of the mountains was breathtaking. Summer Plans

We are officially packing our bags because Taylor has been offered a wonderful internship this summer in California. I let my work know today, and to say the least it was extremely emotional and hard. But life is an adventure and we are putting faith in the Lord that all will work out. Therefore, we are looking to sublet our fully furnished apartment. It will be available from May 1st until sometime in August. Last weekend my family came in town for Presidents weekend. It was a weekend full of skiing and snowboarding in a ton of fresh powder. Here Tay and I are skiing with the family at Solitude. This year Tay decided to try out skiing, and I think he might have enjoyed skiing a little more than snowboarding. Overall, it was a great weekend and I'm counting down the days until they come up for Conference weekend.

A few nights ago, Down started to play at Guru's. The place was packed and people were waiting for seats to be available. Tay got dared to go up in front of the restaurant, take the microphone and do his rap in front of everyone. He was hesitant and first, but totally ran up, got the microphone and rocked it. It was probably the funniest thing I have ever witnessed. I guess if the business world doesn't work out.. we can always post this clip on Youtube and hope that Usher makes us as famous as Bieber.

Snowmobiling

At the beginning of the month we were invited to a snowmobile competition, by our dearest friends. It was such a fun and thrilling night. It was a bit cold, but totally worth the intensity of the event.

First Race

Last weekend we headed down to St. George for Taylor to run his first race in preparation for the marathon in October. The weather was incredible and the company was even better.

I love my Helen Ficalora necklace. If there was ever a fire in our apartment, this would be one of the things I would grab. I know...totally materialistic, but it's something I truly cherish and love. One of my dearest friends got me this necklace and she started me out with an H charm. Then for my wedding she got me an F charm. Perfect wedding gift, I might add. Well, a few months ago, I was golfing with my hubby and noticed that my F charm was missing. I was heartbroken to say the least. I brushed off my sadness and moved on, thankful that I still had my H charm. Few months went by, and I totally forgotten about my lost. Then to my surprise, there was a little box wrapped all cute underneath the tree on Christmas. I opened it and there was a new F charm. I was ecstatic! I was so excited that I didn't notice the cutest part of the gift. Not only was there a regular size F charm, but there was also a little R. My sweet hubby got me a mini R for baby Reese whenever she comes. Anywho, if you have kids or are expecting I thought I would share this treasure, so that you could get one as well. My husband knows me a little too well. He went Christmas shopping today and said that I couldn't open his suitcase when I got home. I said okay..but in the back of my mind I was already planning on looking in the suitcase. Well, when I got home I went straight to the suitcase and found this. The zippers taped with a wooden stick between the two zippers, not allowing me to open without him knowing. I died of laughter and called him right away. I really do love surprises..but I like to know as well. Anywho, it was a funny moment.

Sunday Thoughts

Every time I get on facebook and see a status that says, "It feels so good to be home," I cringe. Can Thursday at 12:30pm come any sooner?
Because I am homesick, I have probably called mom 4 times a day, and thats not including Tay's calls.
I have watched The Grinch, Home Alone, Elf, and The Holiday at least 5 times each. I LOVE Christmas movies. Mom told me that my brothers are waiting to watch Miracle on 34th Street with me. Another reason why I can't wait to go home.
I love this weather. I'll take rain over snow any day.
Went to the Anthropologie sale yesterday, and oh how I have missed that store. Wish there was one closer to Provo..Tay thinks it's a good thing there isn't one.
Glad to have my hubby back after finals. I'm so proud of his hard work.
I love getting Christmas cards, especially from families back home. There have been some super creative ones this year.
At work I have 106.5 playing Christmas music all day long. It makes work a little more exciting.
If I had enough flower or a bow headband's, I would wear them in my hair everyday. When I was in high school I would wear a colored bow everyday to match my outfit. Not much has changed.

Christmas Festivities

This past week we have had some type of Christmas party every night. I am grateful for this time of year and I never want it to end!

Every year Tay's moms side of the family does a service project. This year we went to Costco, loaded up 5 shopping carts and dropped all our food off to the SLC food bank. Here Tay is helping Ella unload cans.

Earlier this week we had NuSkins Christmas party. They had Brian Regan come and he was hilarious. After an hour of smiling my cheeks were sore. Ha! Tay and I are very grateful for NuSkin. They are so generous.

Here we are waiting for Brian Regan to come on stage.

We invited some friends over the other night to make and frost some sugar cookies. The guys talked sports and the girls talked baby names. Typical.

On Friday night Tay's mom side of the family had Christmas party. All of the little girl cousins just flock to Tay. They absolutely love him.

I have always wanted to make an apple pie, so I tired this recipe. It turned out pretty good.

After my work party we headed to see the new and remolded Riverwoods. It was so festive!

Collection of Santa's

Every Christmas mom gets out all her Santa's that she has collected around the world. I love her collection and without them the Christmas decor at home would not be the same. While we were in Europe we were on the hunt for Santa's, so that I could start my own collection. It was neat because in Germany we were able to find the exact two (the two end Santa's) mom bought years ago. Mom is not a big collector, which neither am I, so this Santa fetish is a special mother-daughter thing.

The Santa that is second to the left has a special story as well. My dear friend, has two of these Santa's sitting on her kitchen table. Every time I go over, I obsess over them because of how unique and special they look. They are called Cypress Knees and are made out of Cypress stumps from Louisiana. Her mother was kind enough to send me one and I will forever treasure the generosity.

The nutcracker Santa that is second to the right, is one that mom and I both got to remember our trip together.

I love Christmas and I am so excited that my favorite peppermint treats are here!

I love how festive the wrappers of these kisses are. Not to mention they are to die for!

Tay and I lit this candle tonight and we could not get over how amazing it smelt. Hands down favorite Christmas candle.

My favorite hot chocolate with a shot of peppermint is here. Delicious on a cold night.

This peppermint bark melts in your mouth and as Tay would say, "It's a carnival in your mouth."

Thanksgiving

Tay and I had a wonderful Holiday. This year we spent Thanksgiving with his side of the family. Dinner was delicious and we truly enjoyed ourselves. After dinner we played a bunch of games, and I ended up winning the turkey turd toss. HA!

After dinner Tay and I headed up to Park City to spend the night and to do some Black Friday shopping at the outlets. The stores opened at 10:00pm and NOONE was there! The outlets say they will open at midnight, but they are a little sneaky and open at 10. So, as we were leaving around 1:00am cars were bumper to bumper, and we heard it took an hour from the freeway exit to the outlets. If you ask Tay how Black Friday went he will say, "We dominated the outlets!"

Temperature started to drop, and I have never been so cold! This was probably around 12:30am.

We then came back to our hotel, and defrosted by the fire. Friday we went at it again and hit up two Walmart's, one Target, and stopped by the outlets one more time. Later that night we came back to Provo and picked up our Christmas tree.

Saturday we went up Cedar Hills to watch the BYU vs. U of U game. It was a lot of fun to watch the game with men that are VERY passionate about BYU. Overall, it was a wonderful weekend and I can't wait to go home for Christmas!

Every year NuSkin has a company costume contest. One of Tay's friends had this genius idea of dressing up as the four owners back in the 80's. The picture they are holding is in the lobby of the owners suites, and is what they followed to match their person. Their idea was an overall hit, and the legit founders thought the idea was hilarious! When they called the original founders to the stage to start the party, there goes my husband walking on up acting like he is one of the legit owners. The crowd went nuts. In the end they won, got some major cash, and my sweet husband hands me the cash and says, "Have fun at anthro!" Definitely best husband award.

Yesterday I made a really moist pumpkin bread. The spices weren't too strong, and overall it had great flavor. It was so delicious I thought I would share!

1 cup margarine

3 cups sugar

4 eggs

3 1/3 cups flour

2 teaspoons baking soda

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1 1/2 teaspoons salt

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 teaspoon nutmeg

1/4 teaspoons ginger

1/2 teaspoon cloves

2/3 cup water

1 15 oz. canned pumpkin

Cream margarine, sugar, and eggs.

Combine all dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture alternately with water and pumpkin. Beat well.

Pour into 2 well greased loaf pans or makes 24 muffins.

Bake at 350 degrees for 55-60 minute (for loaves) or until toothpick comes out clean.

Golf Experience

So, last night I went golfing with my husband. Actually let me rephrase that.. Mary Martha and I followed our husbands in our own golf cart, while they golfed. The leaves were brilliant yellow, orange, and red, and the sunset over Utah Lake was breathtaking.

Our husbands had great intentions of getting a few holes in before the huge rain storm. Well, first came the hail, then the rain, and then the thunder and lighting all while we were on top of a mountain. We freaked out, begged our husbands to be done, and hurried down the mountain. It definitely was an experience to remember.

Marathon

This past weekend we made a quick trip down to St. George to watch our dads run the marathon. I love this Marathon/Conference weekend tradition that my family has created over the years. This was my dads 25th marathon, and he has officially declared that he is forever finished. Since my dad is done, Tay has been talking quite a bit about running it next year to continue the tradition. We'll see if that really happens...

While we were there we celebrated dads and Tays birthday. Don't you just love their birthday hats?! Gotta love Reese traditions!

Mission Reunion

Last Friday night was my hubbys mission reunion. It was fun to see him reunite with old companion's, and to meet people I have heard so much about.

The night of his reunion was exactly two years ago we shook hands at the airport. I remember that moment like it was yesterday, and I will always cherish that memory. Overall it was a wonderful night and I am grateful for my hubbys service in Paraguay.
